Sealing Principle of Power Box of Rotary Drilling Rig

The wear of the coating on the surface of the rotating shaft increases the gap between the rotating shaft and the rotating seal, thus completely destroying the necessary conditions for sealing.
Causes of oil leakage at the rotary seal
1. Quality problem of rotary seal itself
At present, the rotary seal used by the rotary drilling rig is usually an elastomer made of cotton fiber impregnated with the outer reason. The elastomer and the sealing lip are vulcanized into one body without metal skeleton. The sealing lip is made of butyl rubber or fluorine rubber. Even if the diameter is large, it can still maintain flexibility and play a good sealing effect. Since this seal is a rubber product, it is molded by a grinding tool during the production process. The precision of the grinding tool, the control temperature, the production environment, and the selection of the sealing material directly affect the quality of the sealing itself. At present, large seals used on rotary drilling rigs are generally imported with original seals. The imported sealing technology is relatively stable, but occasionally there are quality problems such as sealing deformation and early feedback.
2. Quality control of key components
At present, the rotating seal assembly structure in the power box is generally as follows: the rotating seal outer ring is assembled on the seat ring fixed on the box body, and the rotating seal inner ring is matched with the rotating shaft.
(1) The machining accuracy of the rotating shaft: Because the sealing lip is in line contact, the surface hardness, roughness and roundness of the friction area of the rotating shaft are required to be high, and the quality can be controlled during the manufacturing process, and quality errors are prone to occur;
(2) Seat machining accuracy: Because the seat ring and the box body mating surface, the seat ring and the rotating seal mating accuracy directly affect the coaxiality of the rotating seal and the rotating shaft, high machining accuracy is required, and strict control is required in the manufacturing process Its quality error;
(3) power box processing accuracy: power box processing directly affects the positioning of the slewing ring and gear, control its meshing size, reduce the occurrence of abnormal meshing;
(4) Gear and slewing bearing processing accuracy: gear and slewing bearing tooth shape control and surface accuracy can effectively control the abnormal noise and slender iron filings during gear meshing, avoiding the slender iron filings from cutting the rotating seal and causing oil leakage.
3. Cleanliness of gear oil in power box
The cleanliness of the gear oil in the power box itself is not high, but because the box is contaminated during the working process, the cleanliness of the gear oil is destroyed. The main factors for the contamination of the gear oil in the box are:
(1) Mud enters the power box. During the lifting process of the drill pipe, the attached mud did not completely overflow from the drain pan of the drill pipe before it came out of the hole, but with the drill pipe lifted out of the hole, it was thrown onto the power head box body with the continuous lifting and rotation of the drill pipe. The mud accumulated on the power box for a long time enters the box with the rotation of the power head, destroying the rotating sealing lip in the box and causing oil leakage.
(2) Early wear of the gear in the box. The power box of the power head is made up of a large slewing bearing and 2-3 pinion meshing to realize the deceleration and torque increase of the power box. Slewing bearing and pinion meshing will inevitably appear when the wear phenomenon, and wear after the iron must destroy the cleanliness of the box. Especially when the gear machining accuracy is not high, slender iron filings will appear in the early meshing stage, which will cut the sealing lip and cause oil leakage from the sealing lip. (3) the aging of gear oil. Gear oil must be replaced after a period of use. If it is not replaced in time, aging will occur. The aging gear oil will damage the sealing assembly conditions and may cause oil leakage.
4. Assembly process control of power box
(1) Assembly environment. The assembly of the power box needs to be in a clean environment with no external pollution. During the assembly process, it must be ensured that all workpieces and boxes in the box are thoroughly cleaned;
(2) Quality control during assembly
a. The positioning of the assembly datum, especially the positioning of the box body, must be fixed on the workbench without any looseness;
